Instructor Bios

My objective in teaching the game of golf is to help my students improve their skills and develop their abilities. I feel that teaching the entire game is the key to improving scores. At the end of the day that is what students want: to improve their scores. I try and give most lessons on the course and in the short game area. The student will know and have an understanding of what will occur during the session. To quote the great Ben Hogan, “Don’t simply tell a player what he is doing wrong – that’s not much help. You must explain to them what they ought to be doing, why it is correct, and the results it produces.”
Each student is unique and the methods I use fits the student’s area of learning. Again making sure that the objectives of each player are met. We have a goal to reach their objectives and help them enjoy the game better.
Grip, stance, posture and aim are stressed along with tempo. Great tempo produces solid shots.
All instruction is tailored to the player’s personal goals, physical abilities/limitations, and knowledge of the game.
“I don’t simply teach you how to hit a golf ball. I coach you on how to play the game of golf.”

Missy is a lifelong student of golf, having taken up the sport in the early 1980s. She believes in the power of applying knowledge through training and finds joy in teaching, often using storytelling as her method. Missy's extensive experience in the golf industry includes working as an assistant golf professional and leading instructor on Colorado's Front Range since the mid-2000s. She has also coached high school girls and boys teams, with her players achieving success at State Championships. Missy is currently pursuing LPGA Professionals Class A certification to further expand her expertise.
Driven by her passion for training, Missy obtained a Joint Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and Experimental Psychology, applying her knowledge in various roles such as user interface design and grant-based research. However, she realized that a complete understanding of learning and execution requires more than just academic research. To deepen her comprehension of physical learning and training, Missy studied Ki Aikido and earned a Black Belt in the mid-2010s.
In 2023, with five decades of golf and training experience, Missy joined Coal Creek Golf Course to continue her development. She welcomes students of all experience levels who are eager and open to learning and training together. If you wish to train with Missy, you can contact her by texting at 720.938.2186.
