On Monday, October 24, 2022, Club Prophet, the point of sale system (POS) for Coal Creek Golf Course, developed a corrupt file during a database upgrade. This corrupt file impacted the software’s ability to access encrypted credit card information for all of Club Prophet’s POS customers, including Coal Creek Golf Course.
Club Prophet is validated by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS), which ensures that all companies that process, store, or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. Due to the high level of security of the PCI, the corrupt file and all stored credit card information was deleted. No data was breached.
This means that Coal Creek Golf Course no longer has any customer credit cards on file.
Many of our customers like having a credit card on file to facilitate checking in or booking a tee time online. If you would like to register another card on file, you can do so in one of two ways:
- Reenter your credit card information next time you book a tee time online or purchase through the online store.
- Come into the golf shop, and staff can manually add the credit card information at the front counter and link it to your account
Please note that a component of PCI security is that credit card information, once entered, is encrypted and cannot be accessed by Coal Creek Golf Course staff, the POS, or the credit card processing company.
